Bio:
As a teacher, I'm the kind of person who encourages you to be brave, creative and expressive. I want to help you communicate your true value. A lot of the time, people learning languages are afraid of mistakes and being rejected. It slows down progress and stops amazing opportunities from coming into your life. How about we don't let that happen to you - deal?
My teaching methodology:
- student-centred focus
- high student language output
- delayed error correction/feedback
My teaching background:
I began teaching in 2018 as a private tutor after graduating University. Then I took a wild trip to China and taught kids and teens there for a year and a half. When I returned to Dublin, I completed my CELTA and levelled up to teaching adults. I love working with motivated adults who enjoy learning and laughing! After the pandemic hit, I transitioned to online teaching. While I love face-to-face teaching, I've learned that online classes can be just as educational and engaging! I enjoy exploring new ways to teach the English language in an online setting. The most successful way is creating links to real-life contexts. This keeps all lessons interesting and informative. But here's the most important part... You want to learn in a way that suits your needs so I'm always adaptable and sensitive to each person's unique situation. I don't win unless you do!
My background outside of teaching:
I'm curious and creative by nature. My background growing up was pure sports. I still follow Manchester United with childlike enthusiasm. But my teenage years and college life centred around other creative passions: music and writing. I have a qualification in Sound Engineering. I spent 2 years in music studios recording bands as well as doing some live sound for local Irish bands. I have also created some (terrible) electronic. If you're lucky, you'll never hear it 😆 In recent years, I've rekindled my love for the art of writing persuasively. Writing has been the catalyst for many opportunities in my life. I didn't realise at the time that writing to inspire action actually has a name: copywriting. I discovered the joys of copywriting 2 years ago and I've freelanced in this area ever since. I'm now building a coaching business for marketing professionals. Copywriting inspired this idea and venture. Music, writing, creativity. These are all a bit of me! 😊
