Bio:

Hello, everyone! My name is Katia and I'm originally from Ukraine, but I grew up in the US. I later majored in Russian and Spanish linguistics and literature, so I am fluent in English, Russian, and Spanish. I have taught all of these languages, but my focus has always been on English. I currently live in Santiago, Chile, where I've been teaching English for the last 16 years.

My teaching methodology:
My classes incorporate the 4 skills (reading/writing/speaking/listening), but are based on students' linguistic, academic, and professional needs. Whatever your level or goals are, you can expect an interactive, friendly environment where we will learn together using my own activities and existing online platforms. As someone who's immigrated twice, I know how hard it can be to learn a new language, to say nothing of the culture. But I also know the great opportunities it brings. If you're ready to expand your horizons, let's do it together!
My teaching background:

I've taught English since 2009, when I received my TEFL certificate. I've worked both on-site and online for language institutes, universities, online platforms, and privately. My students are generally undergrads or working professionals, but I've also taught kids and teens.

My background outside of teaching:

I majored in Russian and Spanish literature and linguistics at Georgetown University. Later, I got a Master's in Comparative Literature at Adolfo Ibáñez University in Chile. This involved presenting at academic conferences, working as a research assistant, and publishing papers and book chapters. On the side, I've also worked as a translator.
