I help students speak Romanian & English with confidence through interactive, tailored lessons.
Bio:
As a passionate and experienced multilingual tutor, I teach Romanian & English from beginner to advanced levels, including accent improvement. My lessons are personalised to your needs, using interactive methods to build vocabulary, grammar, and fluency through real conversation. I also have experience teaching academic speaking and writing, especially in humanities and social sciences; including political science, history, philosophy, and law.
My teaching methodology:
While I am not a traditional, by-the-book teacher, I take a personalized approach to every lesson. I tailor each session to the individual needs, level, and preferences of my clients. Rather than relying heavily on grammar books and exercises from the start, I gradually introduce grammar in a practical and intuitive way. I create and adapt my own materials; including expression sheets, vocabulary and pronunciation exercises, reading tasks, descriptive prompts, and eventually grammar-focused lessons. My goal is to help learners build confidence and fluency through a varied, engaging, and communicative approach.
My teaching background:
I began teaching English to foreign exchange students during my BA studies in the US (2015). Since then, I have continued helping people improve their English, from conversational to academic levels. In 2022, I took on the role of teaching assistant at the University of Bucharest in Romania, where I led BA-level seminars in Political Science, taught entirely in academic Romanian. In early 2024, I began teaching both Romanian and English online. My clients come from diverse backgrounds and range in age from teenagers to adults of all backgrounds.
My background outside of teaching:
I am a geopolitical analyst from Romania, with a mixed cultural background and a strong academic foundation in international affairs. My primary areas of expertise include foreign policy, conflict analysis, international law, and human rights. I hold a BA in International Relations from George Mason University in the USA and an MA in Comparative Politics from the University of Bucharest, in Romania. In addition to my work in geopolitics, I have a solid grounding in history, philosophy, and religion, which allows me to approach complex global issues from a multidisciplinary perspective. I am also experienced in teaching and discussing these subjects in both Romanian and English. I am fluent and proficient in both Romanian and English at a native level. I also speak French, Greek, and Turkish at an intermediate conversational level, and have basic knowledge of Arabic and Russian.
