Bio:
I'm a CELTA-qualified English teacher with a degree in Portuguese and English and a postgraduate specialization in Bilingual Education. My lessons are personalized, practical, and communicative, with a strong focus on speaking and confidence. I use real-life situations, conversations, games, videos, and interactive activities to make learning engaging and meaningful. I’d love to help you achieve your English goals!
My teaching methodology:
My lessons are communicative, personalized, and student-centered. I encourage students to speak as much as possible through conversations, role-plays, listening activities, games, and real-life situations. I also use authentic materials such as videos, songs, and interviews to make lessons engaging and practical.
My teaching background:
I have over 11 years of experience teaching English in a variety of educational settings. My experience includes working in bilingual schools in Brazil, after-school programmes in Ireland, teaching private one-to-one and small-group classes, and providing online English lessons. I have taught students of different ages and English levels, adapting my lessons to their individual needs, goals, and learning styles. I have supported students in developing their speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and overall confidence in using English. Working across schools, private classes, and online platforms has allowed me to develop a flexible, engaging, and student-centred approach to language teaching. I particularly enjoy creating interactive lessons that encourage students to communicate naturally and make steady progress.
My background outside of teaching:
Having English as a second language myself has given me a personal understanding of the challenges that come with learning and communicating in another language. I know how difficult it can be to build confidence, understand different accents, expand vocabulary, and overcome the fear of making mistakes. This experience allows me to be patient and empathetic with my students and to understand the difficulties they may face from a learner’s perspective. I aim to create a supportive and relaxed environment where students feel comfortable practising English, asking questions, and making mistakes as part of the learning process. I believe my personal experience as a language learner helps me connect with students and better understand their individual needs and goals.
