Bio:
Hi there! I'm Winnie from Nigeria! I love sharing my knowledge with anyone willing to learn and I daresay, I always make a significant improvement in my students' mastery of English. I believe that anyone can learn anything, given the right teachers and the right amount of patience. I make my lessons as individualized as possible, because everyone is different, and their learning patterns are different as well. I love to read novels, watch movie series and play video games in my spare time.
My teaching methodology:
- Students can expect individualized learning sessions with me.
- I try to evaluate my students before I start teaching them. These help me to know how to reemphasize their strong points and bolster their weak points.
- I rely on the British council and various ESL websites for materials and resources.
- I do dictation exercises and assignments to evaluate their progress.
My teaching background:
I have been teaching for the past 3 years. I have prepared students for the IELTS examinations. These lessons were both online and face-face. I initially started with my friends, but I extended it to include other people who wanted to benefit from the lessons as well. I focused on the reading, speaking and writing aspects. I have also taught ESL students online. I evaluated each student prior to the lessons to know what aspects need more focus and used that to tailor the lessons individually. The lessons focused on vocabulary building, grammar and pronunciation. I made sure they got comfortable with the language as much as possible. My most recent teaching experience is with Skyeng, where I am a conversational English Tutor. I have a conversation with the student on any topic they choose, and then evaluate their speech and correct them in the course of the conversation.
My background outside of teaching:
I have experience as a personal assistant and customer support agent, where the skills I employed while working included, but are not limited to data entry, calendar management, email and phone management, administrative duties and social media management. I have also been a call center agent, where I handled both inbound and outbound calls from different clients. My last job was as a Mental Wellness Expert, where I assisted clients who called in, with encouragement, advice and all manner of esoteric conversations.
