I’m an English teacher with 15 years of teaching experience who is passionate about helping others acheive their educational goals. My teaching background:
Since 2021 I have been teaching English as a foreign language to students of all ages in one-on-one online classes. The curriculum I teach focuses on optimizing spoken skills including listening and pronunciation, written skills (in particular reading), expanding the student's vocabulary, and growing the student's depth of understanding of the rules of grammar. In general I prefer teaching adults, however I find that children bring a very wonderful energy to class too. My students and I work together to accomplish both broad goals such as improving pronunciation, as well as specific goals which may include things such as writing professional emails. Due to the fact that some learners will have a different purpose for learning English, course materials can be adapted to meet each individual's specific needs.
My background outside of teaching:
Beyond my experience teaching English, I personally understand how it feels to learn a new language and know what it takes to succeed at doing so! I have spent several years studying both Spanish and Hindi/Urdu, and I have traveled to and also lived in several countries in which it was necessary to communicate in these languages. Travel is one of my passions, along with music which perhaps is a "universal" language. I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology as well as a bachelor's in Philosophy. For the majority of the time since 2018 I have been traveling, usually living in one place for about six months before moving to a new location. I am always excited to learn about new cultures and I love cultural experiences.
