Bio:
I am Yahya, a TEFL-Certified ESL teacher who is used to teaching English to students between the ages of 9 and 20. My teaching style focuses on real-world English which students can use on a daily basis to improve their understanding of the language. I strive to make my classrooms enjoyable places that are uniquely adapted to each and every student. As a graduate from The TEFL Academy, I have learnt and practiced all of the skills used in teaching English online.
My teaching methodology:
As far as materials go:
- Almost all of my material is custom and designed by me based on the unique needs of each student.
- I have access to top-quality premium materials provided by The TEFL Academy which I incorporate into my curriculum.
- All of my activity choices are based around the age and current level of my student. For a more advanced student, activities might include reading a book and answering questions. For slightly newer students, simpler 'fill in the gaps' activities are an ideal introduction to the language.
My teaching background:
I have been teaching English for almost two years now, and my students have primarily been children between the ages of 9 and 14. I have also had 6 months of experience teaching adults in one-on-one sessions. My classes always adapt to the needs of my students, no matter how specialized. I generally take the first two classes to assess which type of teaching style best suits a student and then continue to use whatever works best for my student. The
My background outside of teaching:
Born and raised in South Africa, I have a very neutral accent which makes picking up the language from me much easier. As a native speaker, I am also familiar with all of the ins and outs of the language and can help answer any questions that my students might have. I have experience working in various business sectors, from Human Resources to Law, and am fully capable of integrating business language into classes for anyone who is interested in learning it.
