Bio:
Hi :) I am a English tutor with two years of experience, a CELTA certificate, and a BA in Linguistics and a minor in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. I will create a learning plan based on what your individual wants and needs that is engaging after a trial lesson, help you understand your strengths and weaknesses, and be patient and organized.
My teaching methodology:
My teaching background:
I have taught adults and children of many background including students from Italy, Latin America, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and China. At the moment, I am currently working for a language school teaching students of all levels and ages and I have also previously volunteered as teaching assistant for classes in-person and online for learners who were mainly immigrants or university students from Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Latin America. Their needs were very different with some being illiterate and others' preparing for BA or MA courses in the U.S. Since August, I have also been an English tutor on Preply teaching elementary and intermediate learners of English who speak Italian as a first language. These lessons are all one-on-one and focused on the individual needs of every student.
My background outside of teaching:
While I was studying at the University of Colorado, I worked as a Student Billing Assistant in the Bursar's Office mainly answering phone calls and emails regarding students billing issues that ranged from unknown charges to obtaining information about 1098T forms for tax purposes. I worked there for approximately a year and a half and learned a lot about customer service and communicating with customers. I also worked as a Resident Advisor at the University of Vermont for an academic year. My main duty was to assess the wellbeing of residents to guarantee a harmonious living space for all the students in my designated area.
