Bio:

My name is Louis Mihingano. I’m a certified French language teacher with over 20 years of experience teaching students of all ages and backgrounds. I hold a Master’s degree in Didactics of French as a Foreign Language, earned in France, and I’ve taught in a wide range of settings—universities, colleges, language schools, and professional organizations. Passionate about education, I’m committed to helping each learner reach their academic or communicative goals through high-quality, personalized instruction.

My teaching methodology:

My classes are designed to be fun, interactive, and learner-centered. Each lesson is adapted to the student's goals, level, and interests to ensure they stay engaged and motivated.

I use a variety of digital and authentic materials, including:
- Grammar and activity books
- Videos and audio clips
- Online dictionaries and whiteboard tools
- Podcasts, songs, and real-world texts
- News articles, forms, and visual content

Students can expect to participate in activities such as conversations, debates, problem-solving, role-plays, collaborative projects, reading comprehension, and guided writing. The specific exercises vary depending on the learner’s level, focus area (speaking, writing, etc.), and whether it's an individual or group session.

Assessment is integrated and ongoing, combining diagnostic, formative, and summative approaches. I use oral and written tasks that encourage learners to apply their knowledge, think critically, and communicate with confidence.

My teaching background:

I’ve taught French for over 30 years in both French-speaking and English-speaking countries. My experience includes:

- Teaching French as a Second Language to children and teenagers in secondary schools (offline, group settings)
- Teaching French as a Foreign Language to junior learners, university students, and adults in colleges and language centers—both in-person and online
- Teaching French for Specific Purposes, including Business French, Tourism & Hospitality, and Professional Communication, to adult learners and professionals in various sectors (individual and group classes, online and offline)

This diverse experience allows me to connect with learners from many walks of life and adapt to a wide range of learning needs.

My background outside of teaching:

Beyond the classroom, I’ve organized extracurricular activities such as language clubs and French language festivals in schools. I’m also experienced in curriculum review and course material development, which has helped me align my lessons with both institutional goals and learner needs.
