Bio:

Aloha! I'm Shane from the island of Maui, Hawaii, USA. I'm currently living in Bangkok for over two years now. I've been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) for over 9 years now. Mainly I taught for 8 years in Japan. My primary focus is adult business and conversational English classes. I teach from secondary school to adults.

My teaching background:

For over 9 years now I've been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). For the first 7 years I spent in Japan, I mainly taught in Tokyo. I taught all ages when first starting but veered toward my strength in teaching, Business English. I have about 8 years of teaching Business English as well as the practical knowledge from my career in Hospitality management and sales. I've taught at companies such as Sony, Toshiba, Samsung, Mizuho Bank, Isuzu, Mahle Filter Systems, Fuji-Xerox and more. At the same time, I was teaching Business English, I was teaching secondary junior/senior high schools in the daytime. My current job in Bangkok is currently teaching at a secondary public school.

My background outside of teaching:

Aside from teaching, my career has mostly been in Hospitality and Sales. I made a career change from sales to Hospitality in 2014. Since then, I've been an Assistant Hotel Manager of T Hotel Ryuoo in Nagano, Japan, Front Desk Supervisor in Waikiki and a Housekeeping Supervisor in California. My educational background is diverse; I graduated CSU, Sacramento in 2003 with a BA in Anthropology and a minor in Theatre Arts. My specialty was East Asian and Native American cultural studies and Primatology. I also attended UH of Maui in 2015 and obtained a Certificate of Completion in Hospitality as well as Certification in Housekeeping Management. My passion in the Hospitality industry is meeting new people and eco-friendly practices in hotels.
